FORCE BALANCED SMES

In cooperation with the Research Laboratory for Nuclear Reactors,
Tokyo Institute of Technology, (Prof. R. Shimada)

·       The strong electromagnetic force caused by high magnetic fields and coil current is a serious problem for SMES.

·       We proposed the Tilted Toroidal Coil (TTC) system that allows the balancing of the electromagnetic force in the radial direction.

·       An experimental device has been built to confirm the feasibility of the balancing effect.
